The animal sanctuary Home For Hooves Sanctuary in Canada welcomed the little donkey Earl Grey in 2024, but he felt lonely since he was the only one of his kind there.
To cheer him up, the sanctuary staff got him a large yellow yoga ball to play with. Earl spent his days pushing and biting his favorite toy until one day, the ball popped and deflated.
The donkey was sad that he could no longer play with his favorite companion, so Michelle Singleton, the sanctuary’s owner, made a plea on Facebook asking for new balls—never imagining how successful her request would be.
Earl received more than 40 yoga balls, and to Singleton’s surprise and delight, shortly after, the sanctuary welcomed three more rescued donkeys. Now, in addition to his favorite toy, Earl has new friends to play ball with.
